Mairéad McDaid  BSc, MA, MSc, MSc

 

Mairéad is a Chartered Physiotherapist who completed a Master’s of Science in Neurology & Gerontology in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2014. 

 

Mairéad focuses her research, knowledge and skills in the field of neurological and older adult physiotherapy and prides herself on using up to date, evidence based practice. Mairead is a certified NDT/Bobath Physiotherapist and a Constraint Induced Movement Therapist.

She is highly motivated and passionate about working in this field and is excited by the emerging evidence of neuroplasticity and innovative rehabilitation options.

 

Mairéad’s clinical physiotherapy knowledge and skills are complimented by an MA in Health Promotion from the NUI, Galway. This enables Mairéad to use a holistic approach to rehabilitation and to support individuals to adopt sustainable, healthy lifestyle behaviours and prevent secondary conditions.

 

Previous work experience includes working as a Physiotherapist with the Health Service Executive from 2006-2013 and working as a Neuro-Physiotherapist with Brain Injury Matters in Northern Ireland, alongside of a team of specialists delivering community based rehabilitation and support for brain injury survivors with complex and long-term needs.

Mairead works in collaboration with with MS Ireland, Acquired Brain Injury Ireland, The Parkinson's Disease Association, Cheshire Ireland & Grantstown Day Care Centre.

 

In addition, Mairead is an Adult Education Tutor with Waterford & Wexford Education Board.
